Real, just like the author

I have almost finished reading the book for a second time. I first read it as I was beginning my yoga practice. At that time, it was an excellent introduction into yoga and its terms. Now that I am more familiar with yoga, I am finding deeper meaning in Darren's writing.

As one of Darren's students, I read this book and picture Darren saying the words to me. He writes in the very real style that he teaches and lives. He is open and honest about his path and what he has learned along the way.

Yoga and the Path of the Urban Mystic changed my life, and it will change the life of anyone who is open to healing through and learning about the practice of yoga. Darren's writing is human, playful and honest. It is as if he is right there in the room next to you, talking as a friend. If you want to make the world a better place, give yourself and someone else this book to read.

Yoga and the Path of the Urban Mystic

In his book, Darren Main clearly outlines the ancient Eight-Limbed system of Yoga originaly expounded by the Indian sage Patanjali. Darren brings this ancient path towards union into our cultural context by illustrating his own experience in order to bring yoga to life.
I suggest this book both to those new to Yoga and those with a dedicated practice.

Two friends of mine want me to teach them yoga this summer, and I am making them read this book first, so they know that yoga is not limited to the practice of asana.
