Nice option

This is the best training option from Polar. You find here 90% of what do you need to run or ride looking for fitness improvement or serious training. The IR interface is nice. Once the watch itself is a little bit bulk is not a good option if you want it to daily use wearing shirts for example.

good for run and bike, but not for hike

i bought this due to strong positive endorsements by several extremely strong runners that swore by it, most of whom also bike. i used it to train for a half marathon. i ended up getting stress fractures in the foot i wore the pod on. i'm sure they were from my dramatic increase in running activity and several other factors, but i'm not sure it's a total coincidence either. i found that people i ran with and i usually got significantly different readings. i also noticed that if i were at a stop, or running in place, the distance would still tick off like i wasn't. i'm glad the hrm works with most elliptical and treadmill machines though, otherwise recovery from the fractures would have rendered the whole thing useless. i think if i biked and ran this would be a better choice for me, but i'm a soldier and i hike and run exclusively. i'll be getting a gps receiver next. a good piece of equipment, i just think my exercise needs and it are no longer compatible.

Great Tool

I have had the S625X for almost 2 years and it has been fantastic. I have tried several of the GPS based solutions and they are *much* less accurate because they loose signal and they take time to start. The Polar software is also very stable and useful.
