Great book!

No clue what B. Breaux is on about...talk about misleading! A: they didn't review this book, B: among other things, Love & Logic has no connection to Focus on the Family (aside from both being based in CO one in Golden, the other in Colorado Springs), and C: neither Love & Logic nor Focus on the Family are anything close to being "extremist cults"...both are Christian based, yes...extremist or cult, no.

On to actually reviewing the book!

I have both this and the other "Parenting with Less Stress" books, as well as "Love & Logic Magic for Early Childhood", and while for my own personal style some of the ideas and examples presented are more harsh than I would utilize, the concepts underlying them are solid and work amazingly well.

There was a time I wondered if I was going to be able to get through the twos and threes, and thanks to the Love & Logic concepts, not only did we survive them....we enjoyed them!

Find the Love & Logic book geared for your needs (less stress, for early childhood, for teens, etc)...you can't go wrong!

An invaluable resource but only if you want to find a stress free way to raise responsible, safe kids.

Not sure what the other reader was talking about. I am an agnostic so I am pretty aware of that kind of thing. I was also a teacher. Not only does Love and Logic work in the classroom but it does amazing things with my kids. I have 2 toddlers and I think the Love and Logic books and videos are an indespensible resource. It seems to me that the previous reviewer was just looking for a forum to rant about something totally unrelated to these books. He also wasn't reviewing this book - I guess some people will actually mislead people to try and get their voice heard. If click on "see my other reviews" under his name you will see that he has reviewed every book in the Love and Logic series with this rhetoric that is based on complete ignorance. Charles Fay and Foster Cline (founders of Love and Logic) are from Evergreen Colorado - not Colorado Springs and have nothing to do with the whole "family first" thing. There is no affiliation whatsoever. Again, not sure what the other reviewer was talking about - but it is a shame that he may turn people away from a resource that is the most effective tool I have come across to raise children who are responsible, able to make choices effectively, have great self-esteem, and to avoid all the arguments and power struggles that come with parenting.

What is B Beaux's agenda?

Why is it ok for this individual to say Jim Fay has an agenda with "Focus on the Family" extrimist cult? This is the first time I have heard of them being an extrimist cult and I live in Colorado. Where does B. Breaux get this information? Especially since this person has bought many of his books based on the number of reviews, albeit, identical reviews that appear on all of the books supposedly purchasaed by B. Breaux.

Could it be that B. Breaux is using this as his/her own political platform instead of giving an honest review of the book. Obviously this person does not understand that you do not give the child a reason when using this approach because through the process the child acquires the logic on his or her own through the loving scenarios. While some of the techniques might not fit for every family, it is up to the individual who is reading the book to decide what does or does not go along with the family beliefs. I would hope B. Breaux does not read other parenting books and say, yes, this will all work for me. No one book is the know all and say all.

Additionally has B. Breaux not been in a store lately to hear how these mothers still exist in abundance. Is B. Breaux afraid to hear another way of doing things? Maybe B. Breaux should go hear Jim Fay speak in person.
