Any Bitter Thing - A great read!

I truly enjoyed reading this book. Very well-written. Everyone in my book club liked it and it made for good discussion. Good for Catholics and non-Catholics.

Read this book!

I knew nothing of this book before I read it except for what was on the book jacket. Therefore I had no expectation of what was coming and was completely floored by some of the surprises in this book. I am not going to reveal any additional plot either, but I do want to say that this is one of the best books I have read lately (since "Snowflower and the Secret Fan"), these characters will stay with me for a long time, I am likely to choose this for my next bookclub selection, and I cannot wait to read more of Monica Wood's work. READ THIS BOOK!

Deadly Secrets

Mrs. Hansen, Mrs. Blanchard and Charlie should have kept their mouths shut.Aunt Celie needed to tell the truth. The story told the human side of a priest, Father Mike, who, in trying to please everyone brought his life to a standstill.Lizzy, the main character, had her life disrupted by the death of her parents and then by the gossip of the parish. I enjoyed reading the canonical hours that introduced each section of the book. These are the specific times in a monastary that monks are called to prayer. They seemed to foretell the story as it progressed.
