Plagiarism at worst - at best completely unoriginal.
Read High Fidelity and American Psycho instead. They're both better written and less pretentious.

You probably can't handle the truth
The genius that is at work here is nearly beyond description. It's rare that relationships are dealt with in such candid terms as these; there are no punches pulled, no bodily fluids left to the imagination. This is a novel sure to evoke all kinds of ire and outrage and yet you have to ask yourself what is there to be so afraid of? Are we afraid of unveiling the mystique of the male psyche and acknowledging the prominence of sex in the man's mind?
I was on a plane going to San Jose and I was reading the book pre-takeoff. Across the aisle from me is this chick who has a slightly hippy quality about her, probably headed on her pilgrimmage to the mecca of feminism in Berkley. Anyway she says to me with a hint of disdain, "I've heard of that book, I can't believe you're reading that." I just glance at her and shrug, then go back to my reading.
Chad Kultgen is a funny man that knows how to tell a captivating story, these are not throw-away observations but rather a page-turning narrative that keep you reading to find out where life is taking this average american male. I confess that I don't see myself as being this guy and yet there are certainly a number of things that I relate to in his thoughts. Give it a read, I guarantee you won't be bored. Pissed maybe, or laughing, but never bored.

I'm better than this book.
I normally do not spend time writing reviews for books as I prioritize watching Barry Manilow DVDs. I read at least 150-200 self-help books a year to improve my self-esteem, and the the two hours spent telling my book club not to read this will never come back. This book is a bully -- it stole my lunch money and I'm going to tell on it. It reminded me too much of getting kicked around in Junior High gym class, and just because it's popular with the girls doesn't mean it's more romantic than I am. I am extremely intimidated and consider it one of the most threateningly-endowed books I have read. I am surprised to hear no one would rather see a Barry Manilow DVD with me instead of read this book.
Save your time and money -- watch Manilow with me.
