Must-have for EVERY new parent

This book has literally everything you need to know about taking care of a baby. I read this book cover to cover in the first few months after my daugher was born, just by looking different things up. I now give it to every expecting mother I know. I have never seen such a thorough baby book. ("What To Expect the First Year" doesn't even come close to this one!) If you are planning on nursing, you also need to get "The Breastfeeding Book"-- this was a great comfort to me while I was nursing. Whenever I had a problem, I could look it up and find a solution, and it gave me great comfort to know that I wasn't the only one having problems with nursing.

Great reference for early days of parenting

My wife and I received this as a gift at our baby shower. It's a great reference book, in that the indexing is well done, allowing you to quickly get to information you're looking for. I used it 5 times in the first 3 days, mostly to assure my wife and myself about minor things, but we got some good suggestions as well. When our baby started spitting up a lot suddenly, the book had enough information to lead me to suspect acid reflux. When our pediatrician had us take her to Children's Hospital in Seattle they gave the same diagnosis, and recommended some of what we'd just started to do thanks to the books suggestions.
