Poor product

I purchased a GO Video portable DVD player, model # DP 5040. After using it 3 times, it would work sporadically or not at all. The plastic locking latch broke off with normal wear-and-tear. I would NOT recommend buying this product. What a disappointment since it all happened AFTER warranty expiration!

Buy another brand

Although I purchased a different unit, the GoVideo 8440 Portable DVD Player, it played exactly 6 movies before dying. GoVideo replaced it with a refurbished model, which arrived in non-working condition. In addition, the original 90 day warranty is still in force, GoVideo refused to extend it to the refurbished unit. Sitting on hold now with customer service waiting for a answer... I heartily recommend NOT BUYING any GoVideo products unless you are prepared for wasted money and time on hold with customer service.

Ought to Last for Weeks!

I don't know who makes GoVideo, but these players are wonderful until they go belly-up, which usually doesn't take long. The image quality is adequate for on-the-go viewing, but the sound needs amplification, so buy headphones with an amplifier. If you're in the back seat of a car, you'll need a jacket to toss over your head and the unit to see the screen. I took very good care of mine, but all I get now is a blue screen that says "Loading." It no longer plays, but it was nice to use at the library or to hook up to a friend's television on occasion.

GoVideo and its look-alikes have a nice price, but components don't hold up. My mother is giving me hers since she never uses it, but I don't expect it to hold up any better.

On the plus side, they make excellent targets at 100 yards with the silver finish, but I'll probably take mine to a crowded area, leave it on a table and watch someone steal it. At least I'll get some entertainment and some exercise running after someone yelling "Thief!" It may even scare them straight.
