The elder Bush hates broccoli... that's his first mistake.
Broccoli, that well-known scion of the Brassica family (they invented it by splicing cauliflower with broccoli rabe), hit the headlines for the wrong reason. George Bush Senior considered it unpalatable. Author and biochemist Paul Stitt, a consultant to the National Cancer Institute's Designer Food Program, (which takes a preventative approach to cancer through diet), has produced an informative look at broccoli and other foods as cancer preventatives. The focus is on making positive changes to the American diet. Reading this book may do more than feed your thought processes -- it may change your life. Did you know that... - special foods can provide athletes with more endurance, faster recovery, and prevent sore muscles? - there are over 900 compounds in whole foods that can prevent cancer and other degenerative diseases such as arthritis, heart disease, and diabetes? - broccoli, just one vegetable, has 33 compounds that help prevent the development of tumors? As you can see, there is alot to learn. The only drawback to this book is that is mentions the proper scientific names of componds much too often, which does nothing for the average reader who is just interesed in eating heality.
