definatly beats on ipod mini/micro

This player has been great to me, and so far has survived one 6 foot drop to the asphalt. I like all of the sound options it has for you to adjust how your music sounds. The video playback is actually usable. I watched family guy at work one day...The earphones that come with it are except able, but did not produce enough bass. if your a bass savvy person, look at some different earphones. Installing firmware updates is not the easiest thing to do...but at least cowon offerers updates unlike ipod, creative, and dlink

Good Player, Poor Software

I have owned this for two weeks. This player has all the bells and whistles but some are useless. The screen is too small for viewing photos or videos, so why include?

The accompanying software is junk. No MP3 conversion controls (button or menus) show as they are described in User Guide. Cowon "support" did not resolve even when I sent screen-prints. So, I use ITunes to convert and transfer instead. CD-based User Guide is average at best. Almost all controls are on the joystick. This keeps the unit compact, but expect lots of tinkering before you learn it. I wonder how the joystick will hold up.

Nice Player / Mac OSX Support Misleading

I ordered this mainly for recording use, as the iRiver models I used at my previous job were discontinued, and replaced by Windows only T10s.

As a player, the iAudio is slick, so tiny, yet packs decent audio in its feather light package. It is very handy to be able to drag and drop files to the player mounted as a USB drive on your desktop, no fiddling around with middle software to move content.

I've not yet done sufficient testing with the audio; like the iRiver, the built in microphone is supersentive to movement noise, so if you are doing interviews like I plan, plunk the unit down and dn not touch it at all.

Mac OS support is great as a *player*- drag and drop mp3s into it with no problem, no special software needed to use it. As a recorder, I am utterly disappointed that the specs did not mention its file format limitation- recordings are all WMA format, and I am left to using shareware to convert those files to MP3 for editing in Audacity. There is bundled "Jet" software that converts the media for Windows users but nothing for Mac OS X.
